Good news for Teachers who want to Relocate to the UK

From 1 February 2023, teachers who qualified in the following 9 countries will also be able to apply to TRA for QTS: Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Jamaica, Nigeria, Singapore, South Africa, Ukraine, Zimbabwe.


Below are the four different ways to come into the UK to teach;

1. Get a QTS through UK Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) and then apply for the job on the job board ( Reed, TotalJobs, Indeed Jobs e.t.c)

Please ensure you have a good CV or ATS approved CV so you can get job easily.

(QTS is like a PIN that allows you to work as a teacher in UK)

To get this QTS - here are the conditions/ requirements

  • Must have Bachelor Degree

  • Must be a qualified Teacher from your home country,

  • Must have teaching experience

  • Must have IELTS/ English Certificate UK Equivalent

For those already on the UK who wants to varies their Visa through this route, you can only teach for 4 years if you don’t have QTS, so it is important to get this QTS


2. Apply for Assessment only QTS (see the link below) - if you don’t have teaching certificate but you have 2 years teaching work experience – It is not FREE application you will need to go through some agencies – please find out yourselves.

  • You must have Bachelor Degree

  • Proof or English language Proficiency – IELTS

3. You may apply for an undergraduate degree in the UK and as you finish your degree , you will get QTS straight away.

  • Its very easy but vey expensive too – Tuition fees are expensive here in the UK

4. Apply for IQTS Route – If you don't have teaching certificate or experience.

Some universities offer this IQTS course – you need to register with them and it can be done remotely (from anywhere in the world) and it takes 9 -12 months to get IQTS depending on the University.

Conditions to apply for IQTS are:

  • Must have a Bachelor Degree

  • Must have English Language Proficiency

  • Must have WEAE Level or GCSC - Mathematic and English Grade 4 level

  • No need to have Teaching certificate or experience before you can apply.

It is a bit expensive too ( Duration is 9- 12months)


The Universities that offer IQTS are Liverpool John Moore University, Sheffield University, University of Birmingham, Sunderland, Warwick etc

Salary

With QTS you will earn £34,000PA (inside London) , £32,000PA (outside London)

Without QTS will earn around £24,000PA (inside London), £22,000 PA (outside London)

GET QTS OR IQTS, THEN APPLY FOR A SPONSORED TEACHING JOB WITH A GOOD CV TO BE SUCCESSFULLY SHORTLISTED. IF YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL AT THE INTERVIEW, YOUR EMPLOYER WILL NEED THE QTS OR IQTS TO APPLY FOR YOUR VISA TO RELOCATE TO THE UK

General Requirements

1. University Degree: Applicants must possess a university degree, which is a mandatory requirement for this role.


2. Teaching Qualification: Applicants must be qualified to teach children aged 11–16 years, which is the target age group for this role or you go through route 3 and 4 explained above


3. Degree Certificate and Transcript: Applicants must have their degree certificates and transcripts readily available for verification purposes.


4. Teaching Experience: Applicants must have been employed as teachers for at least nine months and provide references from their previous employers or you go through route 3 and 4 explained above
